LOCATION: Las Vegas Metro Command

STATUS: FT/40hrs/wk

The Salvation Army in Las Vegas, NV is looking to fill an HR Assistant position. The successful candidate for this position will have great communication skills, be able to work in a fast paced environment and effective problem solving skills. QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an HR or administrative support position
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with the ability to easily navigate the internet.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Able to successfully complete The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e-learning module.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Human Resource Management Support (70%)

  • Ensure accurate records are maintained for all employees, including but not limited to new hires, annual reviews, salary/status change, leaves of absence, and termination.
  • Maintain a schedule for all employee evaluations & notify supervisors when annual evaluation dates are approaching.
  • Prepare recruitment announcements and process to DHR for internal/external posting.
  • Coordinate employee driving tests and maintain records.
  • Track mandatory training compliance for each employee and ensure annual testing is up to date.
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Coordinator
  • Attend staff meetings as assigned and take minutes when requested.

Volunteer Management Support (30%)

  • Process volunteer applications, including reference and background checks as per Divisional policy.
  • Process background check requests to Phoenix Metro Volunteer Coordinator for processing in a timely manner.
  • Create & maintain a database for volunteers including contact information, documentation & service information.
  • Work with DHQ Departments to ensure compliance with PTM, Fleet, and Safety trainings and protocols for volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position of HR Assistant.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
